In 2022, we are done with all official PGA Tour events. It’s now time to start golf’s silly season.
There’s serious money at stake at the 2022 Hero World Challenge. The winner of the 20-man field will receive $3.5 million.
However, the tournament will not include Tiger Woods, who is the tournament host. Woods said Monday that he couldn’t play because of plantar faciitis. Woods will be available for the festivities, and is scheduled to give a 10 a.m. speech. ET news conference Tuesday. Sepp Straka, who was replaced by Justin Thomas, will be able to tee off alongside Justin Thomas in the first round.
Other noteworthy pairings for Thursday include the all Texas Longhorn duo Scottie Scheffler/Jordan Spieth, and the British pairing of Matt Fitzpatrick/ Tommy Fleetwood. Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland, and Xander Schauffele, just off his third DP World Tour Championship.
The Albany course measures 7,411 yards.
