The 2023 calendar year is being kicked off by the PGA Tour in paradise.
The 39-player field is full of winners, including 10 who were part of the 2022 FedEx Cup final. Friday’s round of 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua’s Plantation Course will be the second round. This event marks the beginning of the new Tour’s designated events.
Jon Rahm shot 33 under last season but was runner-up. He returned to his best and shot a 9-under 64 in 18 holes to tie for the lead. Collin Morikawa, J.J. Spaun and others shot 9 under on Thursday. Tom Kim shot 8 under and there’s a large pack at 7 under including Scottie Scheffler.
