Maja Stark was off for three days during the offseason. She spent the days counting down to the time she could be back on the field.
She said, “I was just waiting.” “I was just waiting,” she said. “Can I now go to the course?”
Stark, who is five strokes behind Brooke Henderson in the final round of Hilton Grand Tournament of Champions, will be there. Stark was able to make her way into the LPGA last season with a win at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, Northern Ireland.
According to the 23-year old Swede, she loves golf more these days than ever. She stopped throwing golf clubs.
Stark said, “I just told mine caddie, ‘I love this day’” after the second round. He said, “Yes, I mean, he called my mom, must call my mother and ask about Maja.” She isn’t throwing clubs. She is having a lot of fun. She’s not too crazy.
“Yeah. I don’t know what happened.” “I don’t know.”
Stark answered the question “The season-ending CME Group Tour Championship” when asked what was her last club throw.
She said, “First, I did a 60-degree wedge and then the next hole, I threw an hybrid.”
Stark’s win at the ISPS was one week after her heartbreak at Muirfield, when she finished with a 79 at AIG Women’s British Open. Stark claimed that she cried for two hours with her mental coach over the phone on Monday after Muirfield.
She said that she cried so hard it felt like my ribs were locked. It was quite interesting, as I have never cried so much in my entire life. It was probably because I didn’t have the energy for my chicken wings as I normally do, and I think my technique improved.
She was already in the winner’s round at the LET co-sanctioned tournament.
She can’t stop smiling because her life changed overnight.
