The windy conditions at Saturday’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am were just too much.
At 3:12 p.m., the weather horn was blown by the PGA Tour. ET at Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course, and at 3:20 PM. Wind conditions have caused ET at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Mark Dusbabek, CBS Sports rules analyst, said that conditions were particularly bad on the ninth hole at Monterey Peninsula. The wind made it unfair for competitors to play. CBS’ Jim Nantz reported that the Tour had all its players returning to the clubhouse in anticipation of a long delay.
On the Monterey Peninsula this afternoon, winds are expected to reach 40 miles an hour. It’s not clear if play will resume on Saturday.
Wind was the last time a PGA TOUR tournament was suspended was during the first round at the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Tee times were moved an hour earlier on Saturday in order to get some play in before the wind picked up.

Peter Malnati leads Keith Mitchell and Joseph Bramlett by two shots at 12 under par. Malnati began on the 10th green at Pebble Beach. He’s currently on the 4th green with an 18-foot birdie.
Dusbabek reported at 4:02 p.m. ET: Tour officials have granted permission to players to practice at each course. The plan is to resume play at 5 pm. ET (2 p.m. PT).
