The pro, who is 27 years old, won the par-3 17 at TPC Sawgrass. He was then celebrated with great gusto.
Buckley started on the back nine, and was the second player to reach the water-guarded par-3 in the opening round 2023 Players Championship. He chose a pitching wedge that was only 125 yards from the front-hole location. He hit the ball just right, and it bounced once before spinning back into the cup.

Buckley threw his hat into the air, pumped and shouted “C’mon!” as he tossed his club in front of pros Adam Long, Taylor Montgomery, and slapped their hands.
Buckley became the 10th th player since 1991, one year after Shane Lowry had aced the third hole.
