Although Rickie Fowler may technically be in Austin Texas, he still has Georgia in his thoughts.
Augusta, Georgia.
Fowler stated Tuesday that “we are here to basically get ourselves back into Augusta,” during a press conference before the WGC/Dell Technologies Match Play Championship at Austin Country Club.
Fowler (34), has had 10 career starts at The Masters, finishing second in 2018 and has not played in the first major since 2020. The deadline is fast approaching to get an invitation for the 87 th Masters which starts April 6.
Fowler ended 2021 ranked No. Fowler, who was ranked No.103 in the Official World Golf Ranking has moved up to No. 59 is up from three top 10s this season, and is just a tie for 13th at The Players Championship. All 50 players in the OWGR who finish this week at the top automatically qualify for the Masters. Fowler will be back at Austin Country Club this week for the first time in 2016 because of that.
Fowler said that he wasn’t a fan of the group format. He spoke out about round-robin group play. It begins on Wednesdays and was established in 2016. I loved the 64. Just knock out. You knew what you were getting yourself into. We are here to help you get back to Augusta.
Fowler was told during the press conference that he would have a good chance of making it to the quarterfinals and rising into the top 50.
“I knew that I had to be here and play well. I was not sure what I should do. Fowler stated that the nice thing about the world rankings and the current trends is that anything I do to earn points on the board will only help me move up in the future. “So yeah, I know, my short-term goal to get back in Augusta is clear. We’ll keep moving forward even if that doesn’t happen.
Fowler will have to do a lot of work in order to move up from his four-man pod. Fowler is the No. He was the No. 2 Jon Rahm, winner in three tournaments this year, No. 22 Billy Horschel, winner of this Austin event in 2021 and No. 39 Keith Mitchell has been in good form, with two top-5 finishes in five of his last five starts. The winner of each group’s points will advance to the Round 16 (ties are broken by sudden death playoff), where a single-elimination tournament will determine the match-play champion. Fowler will need to win his next match and survive group play.

Fowler said that he would travel to San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open, if he doesn’t make it into the top 50. If not exempted, the winner of the next week’s Tour stop will be given the last spot in Masters.
Fowler stated, “I’m committed to playing there.” “If I play well enough, we will kind of reconsider and see what we are at. However, I will do whatever it takes to make Augusta a great place to live.
