Apr, 2023

For most of the tournament week at Augusta National, Masters patrons will require an umbrella or poncho.

The Weather Channel forecast for Sunday is calling for severe weather during the tournament. On Thursday, Augusta can expect cloudy skies and a possible thunderstorm. Showers and scattered storms are forecast for Thursday night through Friday, with rain expected the rest of Saturday.

Signs indicating “WEATHER WARNING”, which may be displayed on scoreboards or message boards, might indicate inclement weather in advance. Patrons are advised to take precautions well before suspension of play. An airhorn will signal that the suspension has been made.

These are the expected rain chances:

  • Thursday:24% in the day, and 40% at night.
  • Friday:70% in the day, 80% at dusk.
  • Saturday:80% in the day, 60% at night.
  • Sunday:50% in the daytime, and 40% at night.

The Tuesday practice round of last year’s Masters was cancelled due to rain. Many sought shelter in nearby bars and restaurants, where they were offered the chance to purchase the same tickets for this year.

Thursday is expected to be the hottest day with temperatures of up to 85 degrees. Temperature-wise, the weekend will cool off by 20 degrees. However, the Masters is expected to experience a humidity level of 67-86%.

The guests can also expect a light breeze with winds of up to 12 mph.
