The Greg Norman-designed course is 7,456 yards long and has a par 71 layout.

Many of the top players in the world are not present, except for Rahm. Tony Finau (16th) is the only player from the top 50 Official World Golf Ranking to have entered. Andrew Putnam is 68th in the Official World Golf Ranking and will be playing.

Mexico Open is at a time in the schedule when many players are taking a break. The Wells Fargo Championship, which is a designated event at Quail Hole Club, will be a packed field in two weeks. Two weeks later, the PGA Championship, held at Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, New York has a full field.

Rahm and Finau are the favorites in Mexico.
