It’s been nearly a full year since the LIV Golf League began pursuing Official World Golf Ranking Points. This conversation will continue for a while.
LIV requested OWGR points for July 2022 but there has not been a decision. This can take up to 18 months.
On Twitter, there have been many debates about whether LIV is worth points. However, most of these have come from fans. Phil Mickelson & Colt Knost had a heated debate on Monday that ended abruptly.
Let’s start.
Knost replied to a discussion about the OWGR that was started by a pro LIV account.
Serious question. You’re all so upset over the OWGR. If you knew the criteria before you started your tour, why wouldn’t meet them?

Mickelson then joined in. This is his largest interaction on Twitter, despite slowly returning in recent months. He took a shot at Knost’s employer.
Colt. It’s not our job. The owgr is responsible for ranking ALL players around the globe. They could do their job, and rank all the players in the world.

The back and forth really started to get going.
Respectfully, I don’t care about OWGR points or need them. I will be playing in three majors over the next 13+years and four majors until 2025. It’s all about doing the right thing and calling out collusion behind closed doors that helps JM get his tv cash.

The heads of the owgr were told that they would do all in their power to stop LIV.
You’re curious why you believe LIV is THE ONLY tour that does not deserve points, despite having so many top players. It’s not valid to say that it is a threat.Phil Mickelson May 1, 2020 HTML0
All tours can be asked the same questions. To get ZERO points?
To me, it’s clear why. You should feel the same way. It’s a protective mechanism CBS, and others, used in their current contract.

Lefty was invited to join Knost’s podcast (Golf Subpar) by Knost.
I prefer tweeting like we are. Tweeting like we do

is my preferred method.

Strike one. Knost will then pitch the next pitch. Greg Norman is also included in this.
What do you tweet when you have no facts to support your opinion? No thank you.
I’m good.Phil Mickelson May 1, 2020 HTML0
Knost tried again. Knost didn’t give up.
You could present your facts during the show. We could meet in person. It would be a great discussion. Maybe our two brilliant minds can come up with an answer!

Mickelson did not respond and their conversation came to a sudden end.
How many times will Phil invite Knost on his podcast before he responds? The world will never know.
