Michael Block’s fairytale-filled week in Rochester, N.Y. keeps getting better.
The 46-year old club pro at Oak Hill aced Sunday’s 151-yard par-3 hole. Block, who played alongside Rory McIlroy at the “Plateau” hole, the shortest on the course, dunked his tee-shot.
He said, “No way!” as the crowd began to erupt. “Are You kidding Me?” “I’ll make that delay any time.”
Block, who is a club professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, Mission Viejo in California, was the lone pro to make this week’s 36-hole cut.
McIlroy slapped Block’s hand, gave him a bear hug, and tapped his belly.
This is the 29th ace at the PGA Championships since 1983.
