Rose Zhang had a great first week. Rose Zhang, a newly-minted pro, won the Mizuho Americas Open thirteen days after winning her second NCAA Championship. She won $412,500 in her playoff win over Jennifer Kupcho.
Zhang is now eligible to compete in the Solheim Cup, which will be held this September in Spain. The 20-year old became the first woman to win her LPGA debut since Beverly Hanson won in 1951. This week, she will return to Stanford to complete her final exams and pack her dorm.

The Mizuho Americas Open’s inaugural purse of $2.75m is one of the largest on tour for an event that is not a major. The runner-up, Kupcho, earned $256,544.
