Our course-rating panel is made up of hundreds of members who rate courses on a scale of 1-10 points based on 10 criteria. Each course is also given a single overall rating. These ratings are then averaged out to create our Golfweek Best Course rankings.

These courses are open to the public in one way or another, whether it’s through standard green fees per day, a resort, or staying at a hotel affiliated with them. There’s no need to join a club if you want to play golf. There are some courses that may be considered private by some, but allow limited guest play, usually through a hotel or other arrangement.

One course stands out this year. Landmand Golf Club, in Homer Nebraska, is the only new course on this list. The No. 1 course in Nebraska. Landmand, designed by Tad King & Rob Collins opened in 2022.

KEY : (m), modern, built after 1960; (c), classic, before 1960. The number before the (m) and (c) indicates the ranking of the course on Golfweek’s lists of the top 200 classic and modern courses in the U.S.
