PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan sent shockwaves through the golfing world on Tuesday when he announced that the Tour had agreed to merge its commercial interests with those of DP World Tour, Saudi Arabia’s PIF and LIV Golf.
Monahan has been criticized by his players, supporters, and even 9/11 Families United , who called him a “Saudi shill“.

Monahan explained his decision to change his mind to Golf Channel on Wednesday from the RBC Canadian Open, Toronto. He stressed that being partners with PIF rather than competitors is in the interest of golf’s major entities.
