Rory McIlroy, the two-time defending champion, will attempt to become the first person to win the John Deere Classic three times in a single season since Steve Stricker, who made it his ATM between 2009 and 2011, and the only player to achieve this feat. He joins Stuart Appleby and Tiger Woods as the other players to have achieved the trifecta at least six different events.
Corey Conners, meanwhile, is attempting be the first Canadian since Pat Fletcher in 1954 to win their national open.
