Davis Love III, RSM Classic tournament host, is injured and has to withdraw

ST. SIMONS ISLAND (Ga.) – On Thursday, tournament host Davis Love III was forced to withdraw from his own tournament.

Love, a member of The World Golf Hall of Fame, was scheduled to play in his 788th PGA Tour event this week at RSM Classic. He pulled out of the tournament prior to play began due to a left wrist injury. In 12 appearances, he had reached the final six times. He also made it to the semifinals twice in 2012 and 2012.

Love was able to benefit from Scott Brown’s decision to not play. Brown started at 9:20 AM. ET on the Plantation Course, Cameron Champ and Sahith Tegala.

Love, who has won 21 PGA Tour titles, including 1997 PGA Championship, will continue to be involved in tournament activities, including the trophy presentation on Saturday. The tournament’s principal benefactor is the Davis Love Foundation.
