DETROIT — At first glance, it appears that he is the ultimate Rickie fowler fan.
It turns out that Mohawk Bob (as he is affectionately called) has never attended a professional tournament in his entire life.
Casey Hurbis was browsing Instagram one night when he saw Mohawk Bob’s colorful hair (Mohawkamaniabob). He thought it would be great to have him attend the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which took place at Detroit Golf Club, and tracked him down.
Mohawk Bob’s reaction: “I was like ‘Woah! Sign me up.’” he said.

Mohawk Bob was photographed with Bad Bunny at the Denver Nuggets’ victory parade. He flew from Denver to have his hair painted with Area 313, which is the local area code of the Motor City. It’s a central meeting place for fans and is located on the back nine, just a few steps from the main entry. There is also a contest for players to attempt to make a 3. There is also a competition for players to try and make a 3 on No. The number of the code is 15 (a 1, a 1 on No. 17).
Hurbis suggested that Mohawk Bob wear Fowler’s Sunday signature color, orange. One fan said that you could smell the hairspray while Mohawk Bob was watching Fowler tee-off at the first green. Geno Bonnalie, Joel Dahmen’s caddie, approached Fowler to tell him: “There’s someone with the best haircut I’ve seen.”
Fowler, Rocket Mortgage’s ambassador, said that they had already met, and taken a picture together.
Fowler asked, “Did you win a bet?”
Mohawk Bob, between taking pictures with fans, said “I feel as though I won one.” “I am having the time of my life.”
