Troon acquires Invited’s Club-Management Division as part of strategic partnership

Troon and Invited announced today that they have formed a strategic alliance in which Troon is acquiring the management of 18 golf clubs previously managed by Invited.

Dallas-based Invited owns more than 200 clubs, and it has over 400,000 members. This doesn’t alter.

Troon will take over the Management Services division of Invited, which was a third party operator for the 18 clubs involved in the deal. Troon, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, specializes third-party management and hospitality. It has more than 760 courses with 18-holes equivalents around the globe.

The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. PGA National, Florida – Invited manages the PGA National Members Club at PGA National Resort & Spa. This is the long-time host of a PGA Tour tournament. One of the notables is the Trout National The Reserve, which is still under construction in New Jersey. It was founded by Mike Trout and will feature a Tiger Woods-designed course. The full list of 18 clubs can be found in the press release.

In the agreement, Invited will offer a program allowing its members to access more than 200 clubs and 150 resorts managed by Troon. The former Invited Club management facilities’ members will continue to receive the XLife benefits of Invited, which includes access to hundreds of private clubs as well as renowned resorts.

In a press release, the companies announced that the management teams of the clubs will be managed by Troon and that all their employees will continue to play their respective roles. Seth Churi, invited senior vice president, and Peter Faraone regional vice president will be moving to similar roles within Troon. They will continue to support the operations of the 18 clubs using Troon’s resources.

In a media release, Troon President and CEO Tim Schantz stated, “We are thrilled to welcome these outstanding club members, their management teams, and associates to our Troon family.” We have respected Invited for many years. The relationship provides new opportunities to each organization, and is perfectly aligned with their respective missions and goals.”

Troon and Invited announced in a media release that they plan to further collaborate so as to maximize their expertise.

We are excited to begin this historic relationship. In a media release, David Pillsbury said that by working together, and pooling our strengths, we could become more dynamic when it comes to providing resources and infrastructure for our members and club.

In 2017, Apollo Global Management purchased Invited and took it private in a $2.2 billion deal. Troon is heavily invested by TPG Capital. Both companies have PGA Tour golfers as investors and ambassadors. Jordan Spieth is both an investor for Invited and an ambassador, while Rory McIlroy invests in Troon.

Troon has acquired 13 companies in the last 16 years.
