PEBBLE BEACH (CALIFORNIA) – Thailand’s Natthakritta Vomgtaveelap has been disqualified from the 78th U.S. Women’s Open because her caddie Jinsup Kim used a distance measuring device on several holes.
Vongtaveelap was par for five holes on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, where she was competing in her very first U.S. Women’s Open.

The USGA issued a statement which read:
The caddie of Natthakritta vongtaveelap repeatedly used a device to measure distances during the first round. This is prohibited in the U.S. Women’s Open. The first violation is a penalty that can be applied to all players, while the second violation results in disqualification.
The KPMG Women’s PGA in Baltusrol allowed distance measuring devices.
