LIV Golf originally planned to host the 2023 season finale of its golf tournament in Saudi Arabia. However, it has changed its mind.
The LIV Golf Team Championship, which was first held in 2012, will be held at Trump National Doral Golf Club, near Miami from October 20-22.
LIV Golf Jeddah, which was originally scheduled to be held at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, King Abdullah Economic City on Nov. 3-5, will now take place the week prior to the team championship (Oct. 13-15).
LIV’s opening eight events in 2022 were all better than the team championship held at Doral during last season. It was a strange idea to have the season finale held in Saudi Arabia due to the low number of golf fans and the poor television window. A move to Miami makes more sense now that LIV is establishing itself in the professional scene.
The team championship will be determined by the final team standings after LIV Golf Jeddah. The top four teams in the standings will get a first round bye. Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC will receive the first-round byes. Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC, Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC and Stinger GC are also eligible.
