Rory McIlroy, 2014 Champion Golfer Of The Year, was the last golfer to be at Hoylake nine years ago. McIlroy is in excellent form, having achieved six top-10 finishes in a row including last week’s Genesis Scottish Open.

Cam Smith is the reigning Open Champion, having beaten McIlroy on the Old Course in last year’s season. Smith won his last appearance at LIV Golf London.
