HOYLAKE (England) — The first round of 2023 British Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake in England, is underway. This is the final major men’s golf event of the year.
156 golfers will be teeing it up on Thursday, including the three major winners of this year: Jon Rahm from the Masters, Brooke Koepka from PGA Championship and Wyndham Clifton (U.S. Open). Cameron Smith, the defending champion, is also returning to defend his title.
The majority of golfers are also following Rory McIlroy who won the British Open 2014, when the tournament was last played at Royal Liverpool. This was also the last major championship that McIlroy has won.
