Over the years, there have been many female caddies who work in professional men’s golf. Fanny Sunesson is the most famous.
Nick Faldo and she made their mark on the bag. In the 1990s, they won four major titles. Before retiring in 2012, she also worked with Sergio Garcia and Fred Funk.
She returned to caddie for Adam Scott in the 2018 Open Championship and fellow Swede Henrik Stenson in the 2019 Masters.
Sunesson not only set the bar for female caddies on the professional men’s game, she also opened the door for more women to be caddies. It’s no surprise that many others have followed and you can see a woman caddie at a PGA Tour tournament, usually a wife or girlfriend.
Minnesotan Frankie Capan, III, has his mother on the bag at the 3M Open near Minneapolis and works full-time with the Korn Ferry Tour.
