BLAINE (Minn.) — Lee Hodges pulls a Brian Harman.
Harman won the British Open last week with a five-shot lead after 54 holes. Hodges has a five-shot lead with 18 holes left this week.
The second-year Tour professional has played flawlessly and led every round at the 3M Open, held at TPC Twin City. Hodges, who was outside the FedEx Cup Playoffs’ bubble when he entered the week, needed to have a strong week in order to get into the FedEx St. Jude Championship field in Memphis. He is doing exactly that.
It may seem like a large lead but remember that last year, Scott Piercy was four shots ahead after three rounds in Minnesota and was still up by the same amount on the back nine. He lost.
