ATLANTA – Get ready to see your favorite stars from Netflix’s Formula One series “Drive to Survive” and Full Swing, its PGA Tour-version of the hit documentary style show, meet in a celebrity golf tournament livestream in Las Vegas on The Strip.
This exhibition will feature teams of PGA Tour drivers and F1 Drivers in a match play format. It is expected to mark the first time that the streaming website has entered live sports.
Wall Street Journal reported in June that preliminary talks had begun. This week, a high ranking official from the PGA Tour confirmed at the Tour Championship, at East Lake Golf Club, that a final deal was reached. Golfweek confirmed that multiple players confirmed the event will coincide with F1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix scheduled for November 16-18. Collin Morikawa confirmed to Golfweek that he plans to play.
The @WSJ reported the first on the event, saying that it would be staged in Las Vegas. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said later that it was expected to take place in November.

An agent, who spoke under the condition of anonymity said that the competition was planned for Wynn Golf Club. The course is the only casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip and originally designed by Tom Fazio. Wynn is ranked 19th in Golfweek’s Best 2022 Top 50 Casino Golf courses.
Netflix is looking for prominent players from Season 1 and hopes to include them prominently in Season 2. Filming is taking place at the Tour Championship – the culmination event of the FedEx Cup. Season 2 will be released in early 2024.
Jordan Spieth is one of the players who declined the chance to participate in the celebrity event. In the premiere episode, he was featured but he declined for a good reason.
Spieth said Golfweek. “They asked me but I was super busy with my second child, and the foundation event in the middle. We didn’t want that.”
The PGA Tour refused to comment. Netflix has not responded to a comment request.
