Viktor Hovland, who won the U.S. Open in 2018, was a great candidate for the PGA Tour. The Norwegian had won the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach and was the lowest amateur at the 2019 Masters. He also played for Oklahoma State as an All-American. But his game wasn’t complete. Hovland admitted that his short game was behind his driving, and significantly less developed than his iron play.
Five years on, Hovland has improved his chipping, pitching, and teeing. He is now the FedEx Cup 2023 champion.
