CASARES (Spain) — The U.S. achieved history during the morning session of the Solheim Cup 2023 while you slept.
The Americans started off hot and won the first matches, securing a 4-0 early lead over their European opponents. The U.S. is the first country to sweep a foursomes and only the second in 17 years of the event (2017 Saturday Fourball) that they have swept an entire session.
The only European player not to play on Friday is Caroline Hedwall. All 12 American players will be in action, including highly touted rookie Rose Zhang.
Europe barely edges the U.S. out in fourball history, 51-50-22.
The Solheim Cup 2023 second session matches will feature four matches, eight players riding the pine pony and the pairings for each match. Note: Spain is six-hours ahead of Eastern Time.
