Sergio Garcia joins the LIV Golf group that has come to Greg Norman’s defense following Tiger Woods’ statement that he ‘has’ to go.

Dec, 2022

Tiger Woods was not afraid to speak out before addressing the media Tuesday in advance of the Hero World Challenge in Bahamas, which he hosts. Woods was still in the field Monday when he was forced from the course by plantar fasciitis.

“I believe (Greg Norman), has to go, first and foremost,” Woods said. “Then obviously, the litigation against us, then our countersuit against it. These would have to be at a stop as well. Then we can all speak freely.

LIV Golf members quickly disputed Woods’ comments. His old rival Phil Mickelson took Twitter to challenge the claim that the PGA Tour borrowed $800 million during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sergio Garcia is another player who came to Norman’s aid. Garcia spoke out during an interview with Spanish outlet Marca.

“They (Tiger Woods Rory McIlroy), say Greg Norman must go, and Monahan needs to stay or go. It is easy to say that those on the opposite side must go. What about those on your side? There are people who do wrong.

“You must look at everything. Greg Norman is our CEO, and we support him. We wish we could all come to an understanding. While there could be people who were wrong in either place, it seems like there are only bad guys on the one side.

LIV Golf released part of their 2023 schedule recently. This includes a stop at El Camaleon Golf Club. El Camaleon Golf Club has a long history hosting the PGA Tour.

Garcia was part of one team that won in Bangkok and took four individual top-10 finishes on the Saudi-circuit.
