Steven Alker leads 2023 Charles Schwab cup championship

Nov, 2023

Steven Alker, a PGA Tour Champions member since 2022 and a former Charles Schwab Cup winner, won his first-ever season-long championship in 2022.

Alker, who has already secured the title of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship for 2023, will be forced to settle with the final tournament this year.

Alker had a 6 under 65 in the third round at the Phoenix Country Club, a 6,860-yard course in the Valley of the Sun on a beautiful November day. He shot seven birdies on Saturday, and only one bogey. This will give him a 54-hole advantage of four shots.

Alker appears to be at ease with this parkland style layout in the heart of the city. He has a 17-under par score thanks to 20 birdies, and only three bogeys in the first three days. He has birdied Nos. He birdied Nos. He’s 14 under the front and 3 under the back.

Alker, a New Zealander now living in Scottsdale, says he would like to complete this game.

He said, “Well, this is a home match, and I have family and friends with me. It would be a huge thing.” “I won’t be able to win the Schwab Cup, but I can still get a No. “I can’t win the Schwab Cup again, but hey, No. 3, right?”

Alex Cejka, who is also 13 under par, is Alker’s nearest competitor. Thongchai Jaidee and Padraig Hayrrington, last year’s winner of the tournament, are tied for third place at 12 under. Marco Dawson, co-leader in the second round after Saturday’s 74, has dropped back to a tie with 13th place. Ernie Els, the first-round leader, is one of five golfers who are tied for fifth place at 11 under.

Nine golfers shot 60s or better in each of the three rounds played so far.

The 72-hole season finale, with no cuts, concludes on Sunday. The first place prize is $528,000.
