The LPGA Development Tour is getting bigger.
The Epson Tour announced on Monday that the purse for the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic will be increased to $400,000. This is the highest purse in the circuit. The first-place prize will be $60,000.
The TPC Scottsdale Champions Course will be the new venue for this event, which has moved from Longbow Golf Club Mesa. The TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course has been the home to the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open for many years. However, in December the Champions Course will host the final phase of the PGA Tour Champions Q School. The Champions Course also hosted the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour. The Epson Tour will be held on May 9-12 2024 at the Champions Course.
Epson and The Carlisle Companies have also announced an extension of the contract for this tournament, one of the few 72-hole tournaments on the Tour, until 2026. Carlisle became the title sponsor of the tournament in 2021.
Jody Brothers is the Chief Business and Operational Officer of the Epson Tour. He said, “We are always looking for partners who share the same goal as us, giving our athletes every opportunity to achieve their goals and play on the LPGA Tour. This is what Carlisle did consistently from the first day of this event.”
When it was held at Longbow, the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic occupied a slot in March’s schedule. Gabriela Ruffels, Fatima Fernandez-Cano and Ruixin Luu are previous winners of the Carlisle.
