Photos: TaylorMade’s Stealth 2 drivers are now on the USGA Conforming Driver List

Jan, 2023

Every Monday after New Year’s Day is busy in the world of golf equipment. The United States Golf Association (R&A) usually adds several new clubs onto their Conforming Driver Lists. Manufacturers want their staff players to use the clubs that will be on sale in the coming days and weeks, with the PGA Tour’s first event in Hawaii set for Thursday.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers have been added to the list. Rory McIlroy will not be at the Sentry Tournament of Champions on Tuesday. However, other TaylorMade employees like Scottie Scheffler or Collin Morikawa may be using Stealth 2 drivers.

TaylorMade hasn’t yet released any information about the Stealth 2 drivers, but the photos below can help us to infer a few details.

  • All Stealth 2 drivers are equipped with adjustable hosels and a Speed Pocket slot at the leading edge. The sole also has the word “Carbonwood” on it. Because they had carbon-fiber faces, the brand called last season’s Stealth drivers carbonwoods. These clubs are described by the USGA as having ’60X Carbon Twist Face’ written on them.
  • The weight of each Stealth 2 driver appears to be in the back of their heads.
  • The Stealth Plus+ versions have an extra 15-gram weight behind Speed Pocket. However, one Stealth Plus+ version appears to have a smaller head.
  • Each Stealth 2 driver and Stealth 2 HD driver have a weight screw at the heel of the sole. However, the HD version’s weight is closer to the perimeter which could lead to a greater draw bias.
