Oliver Betschart (15) will be the youngest golfer on the PGA Tour in 2014, when he competes at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
The Bermuda-based phenom qualified for the tournament in last week. He was among three players who made it through the qualifying round.
Betschart was the youngest person to win the Port Royal Golf Club Championship a year ago. In the 54-hole qualifier this year, Eric West won it. Betschart was 3-over.
Betschart is the second 15-year old to compete in the Butterfield event. Kenny Leseur has qualified for the 2019 championship.
Betschart told the Royal Gazette that “this has been my goal all year.” Betschart shot a final round 68 in difficult winds. “Now it’s true, and it’s difficult to accept but I’m really excited.”
Only Michelle Wie West and Tianlang Guian have appeared in a PGA Tour tournament. Andy Zhang, Lorens Chan, and Tianlang are the only other younger players.
