If there wasn’t enough mystique surrounding this gem on the amateur schedule, Thursday’s hazy conditions led to an incredible early-morning setting during the second round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Rose Zhang led the event to start the day at Champions Retreat after she posted a record 6-under 66 on Wednesday, besting the previous record of 68 carded by 2019 champion Jennifer Kupcho and Zoe Campos in the opening round in the inaugural event.

Rains had saturated the course earlier in the week, but players were treated to sunny weather on Wednesday. More sun is expected Thursday and Friday, but a thunderstorm could roll in on Sunday.
