A look inside Tiger Woods’ 2022 “Hero Shot Challenge” golf swing

Nov, 2022

Tiger Woods, the Hero World Challenge tournament host, was forced from the event by plantar fasciitis pain. Woods was able to continue his hosting duties on Tuesday, when he competed in the “Hero Shot Bullseye Challenge” against Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood and Max Homa.

The shot was approximately 87 yards long. The target was a floating platform that was placed on a pond at Albany Bahamas between the 9th hole and 18th holes. It had a red-and black bullseye, made from turf, and a 2-foot bucket at its direct center.

It was very simple. Each player had to shoot 6 shots at bullseye. The “Hero Ball”, which is the sixth ball, was worth double the points. Two players would eventually advance to the final shootout, where a winner was crowned.

It was a moving target with wind swirling the platform in the water. But Fitzpatrick kept his cool and hit a walk off, hole-in one splasher in the Championship round.

Kim, the youngest member of the group, was expressive, competitive, and full of energy throughout competition.

Kim reached the final round but was devastated by Fitzpatrick’s clutch dunk. He dropped to his knees, held his head in his hands, and was clearly enjoying the challenge. Kim was not used to and winning on the PGA Tour so it was a difficult loss.

The tournament host was unable to qualify for the second round. He missed several shots, just short of the island platform. Although Woods was suffering from plantar fasciitis and it was a relief to see him swing a club in the Bahamas,

Woods chose to use a TaylorMade MG3 raw wedge at 56 degrees with a distinctive wear mark in the middle of his face.

He was sporting a pair Nike Metcon 8 sneakers. Woods was not required to wear golf spikes because he was hitting off a turf mat. I guess we will have to wait until his next appearance before answering the FootJoy vs. Nike question.
