Adam Scott finished in the top 25 at the Sony Open in Hawaii with four 60s rounds. This was “fairly solid stuff” according to his standards.
The 42-year old will take a month off from golf to relax and practice in Australia, before returning to action at Genesis Invitational at Riviera Club in Los Angeles, February 16-19. Scott will also use his “Get out of a Designed event free” card at the WM Phoenix Open. Why skip the Greatest Show on Grass!
“Well, you don’t have any good reasons for me. Scott said on Sunday, after his final round 3-under 67. “The embarrassing reason is that I thought it went Phoenix Pebble LA. So I didn’t even consider it.” “Yeah. I feel that spending some time in Australia is too much for me after two-and-a half years of not returning home. So an extra week would be nice.”
Scott added Steve Williams, Scott’s caddie, to the Australian PGA Championship and Australian Open. Scott and Scott’s caddie Greg Hearmon share the role, and the Genesis At Riviera is a Williams event.
Scott said, “Yeah. I think generally the idea behind a job-share is that it’s always new.” He explained, “That whoever you’ve got out there for a while, perhaps eight weeks or so, and then they do another run and someone else returns and it’s all very fresh and I think that’s a good thing at the point in a long, successful career.”
