Aug, 2023

The Adam Scott iron saga has just gotten even more dramatic.

Scott was ranked No. 81 in the FedExCup Playoff standings going into the 2023 Wyndham championship. The FedExCup Playoff Standings had Scott at No. Scott, as reported, needed a minimum T9 to be able to crack the top 70 for a FedExCup playoff berth.

GolfWRX.com caught Scott on Wednesday testing several different iron models. Scott switched from his Miura AS-1 Custom Blades to Titleist 620CB irons on Thursday.

Scott shot a 65 in his first round (5-under), which was exactly what he needed. Scott’s second and third rounds were 71-69. This forced him to shoot low on Sunday if he wanted to advance.

Scott, who was on the verge of a playoff spot, made a surprising iron swap, replacing his Titleist 620CB mid/short Irons with Miura’s KM700 (6-9 iron) model.

GolfWRX shared a post on Twitter (@golfwrx).

Miura describes KM-700’s designs as follows: “The innovative, toe-cut grinding works with the hosel/heel in order to optimize the center-of-gravity position. This produces a larger sweet spot. The toe-cut grinding is also visible on sole. The KM-700 delivers a stable, balanced head with optimized impact loft and unmatched turf interaction, all while encouraging a return to the square at impact.

Scott is currently T5 in the tournament with two holes remaining. He has a score of 7-under today and 12-under overall. Scott must hold off players still on the course.
