Tiger Woods hasn’t decided if he has any plans for this weekend after two days of play, but it doesn’t look good.
Woods returned to PGA Tour action with an electric performance on Thursday at the 2023 Genesis Invitational. However, he shot a 3-over 74 on Friday at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Woods walked off the course at 1 over for the tournament with a T-68 score and one shot beyond the projected cut.
Woods began on the back nine and made consecutive bogeys, after a rocky start on Nos. Woods made bogeys on 12 and 13, but bounced back instantly with a pin-seeking birdie at the par-3 14th. Woods continued his efforts to stay at par through the front nine, with another birdie on 17th. Bad decision and a tough break resulted in a bogey at No. He added another on No. 6. 8 after two poor swings to place directly on the projected cut.
Woods missed his ninth fairway on the final hole and fell short in the bunker. Woods had to hole his chip in order to keep the projected cut line intact after he ran off the green and splashed out. Instead, he lipped out for Bogey. We’ll have to wait and see how the afternoon unfolds.
