After a go-kart accident, Tom Watson has left shoulder surgery

Nov, 2022

Tom Watson, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will not be able to play in the PNC Championship next month with his son Michael. This will also put in doubt his role as the first tee starter at the Masters in April.

Watson, 73 years old, was riding a go-kart in Kansas on Monday when he was involved in an accident. The vehicle rolled and required left shoulder replacement surgery. This was performed Friday at Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans.

Watson, who won eight major titles out of 39 PGA Tour titles (T-10 in all time), thanked Felix “Buddy”, his doctor and his “great staff” in a Sunday social media post. He also added “#nopain.”

Watson played only in the PGA Tour Champions Mitsubishi Electric Championship held at Hualalai, January. Watson joined Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and made his Masters debut in April as a starter at the Masters. Watson participated in the Celebration of Champions, the R&A’s 150th British Open at St. Andrews.

Watson appears to be happy and well in his tweet. He is pictured sitting in a hospital bed with his left arm in an sling. He also noted that go-karts are #foryoungerguys. Tom, get well soon.
