After Monday’s qualifying, Parker Coody will join twin Pierceson Coody at the 2023 Honda Classic.

Parker Coody was able to qualify for the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic field despite not qualifying on Monday. Coody won a playoff with a 5-for-3 score and made a tap in birdie to move on.

Coody now has the opportunity to play with Pierceson on the Champion course at PGA National Resort.

Parker stated, “It’s much better than staying home or watching him this weeks.”

Pierceson, who earlier this month won the Korn Ferry Tour’s Panama Championship, is on the field with a sponsor exemption. They helped Texas win the 2022 NCAA title in spring and will now make their professional debuts together on Tour.

Pierceson stated, “It’s really great for our parents.” “Dad is caddying Parker this week. Mom will be flying in. It’s been a great week. We’re hoping to make the most of it.

Pierceson has won two KFT races and this is his third Tour start. He missed the AT&T Byron Nelson cut and the U.S. Open in 2021. Parker is making his second pro debut. He missed the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open in 2020.

Charles Coody’s grandsons, Charles Coody, are Charles and Pierceson. Charles is friends with Jack Nicklaus who hosts the Honda Classic. According to the brothers, grandpa has given them plenty of advice.

Pierceson stated that Pierceson has made references to Jack, Arnie and all the great players he played with. “Seeing the Bear logo is cool. It’s also fun to think about the little bits he gave us about Jack.

Parker won his first professional win last summer at PGA Tour Canada. Parker is in conditional status on KFT, and has missed both of his starts. He won the TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational in November.

The Honda Classic field is sandwiched between two designated events. This means that many names could be looking to make it big this week. Parker and Pierceson hope to achieve that goal, but don’t be confused.

Parker stated, “We said this a fair amount, but our goal is to play together the Tour.” This is a huge step in the right direction. We’ll be doing it again in five to ten years. It’s a great feeling to be able both to make our Tour starts together as professionals.

They are not in the same group during the first round, but they are in the next two. Parker is playing alongside Kyle Westmoreland, Scott Harrington, and Brad Matthews-Pierceson Coody off the first Tee Thursday.
