Vanderbilt’s Gordon Sargent won the East Lake Cup individual men’s stroke-play title. He almost didn’t get credit for his win due to an error in the scorecard.

According to Golfweek, Sargent appeared to be tied for first at the top with Luke Potter from Arizona State and Derek Hitchner from Pepperdine at -3.
Sargent was surprised to discover that the walking scorer had given him a par on the fifth hole after he birdied.
Sargent won the individual stroke-play title but Arizona State was the top seed in match play. They will take on Pepperdine ((4)) on Tuesday, and Texas (2) will face Vanderbilt (3).
Fernandez Garcia Poggio, a senior at Texas A&M, won the individual women’s stroke play title. The senior at Texas A&M, the Spaniard was able win the event by just two strokes, despite making double bogeys on holes 16-17. The Aggies secured the top seed in the match play competition with her second win of her career.
Golf Channel will televise both the men’s East Lake Cup and women’s East Lake Cup on Tuesday and Wednesday.
