Jun, 2023

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Springfield, New Jersey was a great event. Rose Zhang, Yuka Saso and other stars led the charge on Sunday, but Ruoning Yi, a 20-year old, was the winner.

Many players would like to forget what happened when they attempted to fly home.

FlightAware, a flight tracking website, reports that more than 1,600 U.S. domestic flights were canceled as of Tuesday night. Over 5,400 other flights had been delayed.

United Airlines was the most affected, with 471 cancelled flights – 16% – and over 1,000 delayed. Newark Liberty International Airport in New York and LaGuardia Airport, New York, saw the most cancellations.

As severe weather moved through the East Coast, and Central Plains, many cancellations and delays were caused. Many cancellations and delays were caused by the strong weather that moved through the Northeast. This was especially true around New York.

This caused havoc and forced several players to swap their plane tickets for keys of their cars.

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was a tough week for several LPGA players.
