American and international teams announced for the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup to be held at Laurel Valley Golf Club

The American and international rosters for the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup were announced on Tuesday.

Six automatic qualifiers are on each team, along with five committee selections and a coach’s choice. The competition, which will feature the best college golfers from both men and women, is a Ryder Cup style event. It will take place June 8-10, at Laurel Valley Golf Club, in Ligonier.

The women were Ashleigh Park (Oregon), Megan Schofill, Antonia Malate, Crystal Wang and Michael Thorbjornsen (all from Stanford), Megan Schofill at Auburn University (U.S.A.), Megan Schofill at Auburn (UCLA), Crystal Wang in Illinois (all from Illinois), Megan Schofill at Auburn (San Jose State), Megan Schofill as well as Crystal Wang. Men’s selections were Gordon Sargent (Vanderbilt), Michael Thorbjornsen, David Ford (North Carolina), Preston Summerhays, Arizona State, Ben James (Virginia), and Nick Gabrelcik.


Austin Greaser, from North Carolina, Tommy Kuhl, from Illinois; Emilia Migliaccio of Wake Forest; Maxwell Moldovan of Ohio State; Jennie Park at Texas A&M and Amanda Sambach in Virginia. Caleb Surratt is from Tennessee. The non-Division I picks were Olivia Mitchell (Dallas Baptist), and Alex Price (Christopher Newport). Michael Beard, Team USA’s head coach, selected Derek Hitchner from Pepperdine and Derek Radley chose Amari Avery from Southern California as his coach’s choice.


The women’s automatic qualifiers were Julia Lopez Ramirez, Mississippi State (Spain), Charlotte Heath, Florida State (England), Maddison Tolchard, Oklahoma State (Australia), Karisa Chulak-Ak-Sorn, Iowa State (Thailand), and Carla Bernat from Tulane (Spain). Christo Lamprecht, Georgia Tech (South Africa), Christiaan Mahs (Texas); Herman Sekne, Purdue (Norway), Tyran Snyders, Texas Tech (South Africa); Sampson Zheng; Stanford (Australia); and Karl Vilips from Stanford (Australia) were the men’s automatic qualifiers.


The International Team Committee selected Santiago de la Fuente from Houston, Mexico; Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira from Arkansas; Argentina; Max Kennedy from Louisville; Ireland; Frederikkjettrup of Florida State (Denmark); Andrea Lignell of Ole Miss (Sweden); Caley McGinty and Lauren Walsh both Wake Forest, Ireland; Lottie Wold (Florida State), respectively. The R&A Student Tour Series sent Ryan Griffin (Maynooth, Ireland) and Lorna McClymont (Stirling, Scotland) as their representatives. Coaches John Handrigan (East Tennessee State, Norway) and Golda Bost (Ole Miss, Switzerland) selected Mats Ege and Chiara Taburlini as their coach’s choices.

The United States has a 13-12-1 record in the series.
