LA QUINTA (California) – The defending champion Jon Rahm will not be in the field at this week’s 2024 American Express. Other familiar names may not also be competing at PGA West.
The field of 156 golfers – the largest ever on the PGA Tour – is still stacked with the world’s best players. The field is also populated by golfers who have strong resumes, even if they are not in the top 10 players right now but still have the ability to win anywhere.
Three courses are used for the tournament: Pete Dye Stadium Course (also known as Nicklaus Tournament Course), La Quinta Country Club and Nicklaus Course.
The purse has increased from $8.4 to $8.4 millions, with the first place prize increasing from $1.444 to $1.512million.
