Alcott stated, “This is an incredible honor.” “I was extremely humbled when John Solheim called me. Junior golf has always been my belief. Growing up in Southern California, I chipped and put into soup cans. I competed in junior tournaments starting at age 9.

The Ping Junior Solheim Cup is a biennial tournament that pits 12 of the best female junior golfers (12-18 years old) from the United States against their European counterparts. The foursome, four-ball, and singles match matches are played in a team match. It rotates between European and U.S. host sites. This event coincides with the Solheim Cup next year, which will be held from September 18-19. Both teams will be able to watch the Solheim Cup finals at Finca Cortesin on September 18-24, 2023.

The USA leads the Ping Junior Solheim Cup Series all-time, 7-3-1. They had won six matches consecutively before it lost in 2021. The US won the event 13-11 in 2019, when it was held in Scotland.

John Solheim, Ping CEO and Chairman said that Amy Alcott is the 2023 Junior Solheim Cup US team captain. Amy turned pro at the age of 18, and later became a LPGA Tour Hall of Famer. She knows what it takes for a golfer to succeed. She will be an excellent mentor and coach to the US Junior Team, having won 29 LPGA Tour titles and five major titles.
