Arcis Golf, based in Dallas, has acquired the Champions Retreat clubhouse in Evans Georgia. The clubhouse hosts the first two rounds each year of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Champions Retreat members were notified via email of the sale, which was first reported by the Augusta Press. Golfweek and independently confirmed the impending sale, although no official statement was released to media organizations.
The Champions Retreat, a private golf club near Augusta, has three nine-hole courses that were designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. The ANWA takes place each April at Palmer’s The Island Nine and Nicklaus The Bluffs Nine before moving to Augusta National Golf Club on the Saturday before The Masters. The club offers cabins that are oversized, luxurious and have a high-quality food and beverage program. In recent years, the club has opened its doors for guests during Masters Weeks.
Champions Retreat was founded 2005. In 2014, after Bill Forrest of Connecticut-based Tower Three Partners purchased it, its reputation started to soar.
Arcis Golf was founded in 2013. It owns and operates more than 70 clubs, including resorts, daily fee clubs, private clubs, and daily fee clubs, all over the United States. Arcis Golf’s properties include TPC River’s Bend in Ohio and Cowboys Golf Club, in Dallas. Grayhawk Golf Club, in Arizona, and Tijeras Canyon Golf Club, in California. Arcis Golf receives support from the private equity company Arcis Equity Partners, LLC.
