Arizona State’s Thunderbirds Golf Complex is one of the top facilities for college golf.
The facility, which measures 7,000 sq.ft., is located about five miles from ASU’s campus. It is situated at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, a municipal course that was established by the City of Phoenix. This course became the home of Arizona State’s women’s and men’s golf programs. It has a grand entrance lobby, national championship displays and a gym. There are locker rooms for men and women, a fueling station and a team lounge. Indoor hitting bays can also be found here.
ASU alum Phil Mickelson was a six-time major winner. The four-acre area includes five practice greens, four bunkers and a fairway and rough that can be used to practice all types of golf shots.
Papago Golf Course was originally built in 1963. Thanks to “The Bird”, it has been a prominent part of the college golf community.
