Auburn won the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and Marquette Invitational victories. The I Coaches Poll No. 1. Nov. 18.
The poll gave the Tigers 15 first-place votes, and 543 points. Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Arizona State, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech were the top five. Stanford, Tennessee and Illinois completed the top ten for the second consecutive poll.
