Heritage Auctions’ fall sporting event in September saw Tiger Woods’ hole in one ball at the Greater Milwaukee Open 1996 sell for $186,000
This should make Bob Gustin happy.
Woods, a resident of Nekoosa in Wisconsin, threw the ball into the crowd when he hit the 14th hole at Brown Deer Park Golf Course.
Woods signed the ball with tournament director Tom Strong.
Chris Nerat, Heritage sports consignment director, stated that everyone knew it was a unique piece. “How do you value something like that?”
“It’s such a unique piece. This was his first pro debut and he only had three holes-in-ones in his PGA career. It’s a museum-caliber piece that is one of those once-in-a-generation. This is the highest price ever paid for a golf ball in auctions. We were extremely happy with the outcome. It was a very special piece, so it got a very special price.
