Club Car has provided carts to the bi-annual tournament between U.S. golf teams and European teams since 1997. This year’s tournament, which is held outside Rome until Oct. 1, has a large fleet of carts that are being charged using solar panels.
The Ryder Cup is the first tournament to use solar-powered charging stations. This ties in with the tournament’s sustainability policies and the commitment made by the European Tour Group, who has committed to being carbon-neutral until 2040.

Club Car released a statement that the fleet includes six red team cars and six blue cars driven by Luke Donald and Zach Johnson, and their vice captains. “Plus hundreds of golf, turf, and utility vehicles to assist in almost every aspect of the Ryder Cup, from media and broadcasting, to security, to medical transportation,” Club Car stated.
