AUGUSTA GA — Next year, Magnolia Lane will see more amateurs.
Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley announced Wednesday that the individual NCAA Championship winners will be eligible for exemptions to the Masters and Augusta National Women’s Amateur starting in 2024.
Gordon Sargent, a sophomore at Vanderbilt, was the 2022 NCAA individual champion. He is currently playing in the 2023 Masters via an unusual invitation. This is the first time the special invitation has been issued in over 20 years. Aaron Baddeley, in 2000, was the last amateur to receive a special invitation.

The Masters is currently inviting the following amateurs to participate: U.S. Amateur champion and second-up, British Amateur champions, U.S. Mid-Amateur champions and winners of the Asia-Pacific, Latin American amateurs.
Rose Zhang, a sophomore at Stanford, was the 2022 NCAA individual winner. She won the 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Saturday to finish her amateur grand slam.
