Ben Griffin worked as a loan agent for a North Carolina mortgage group in 2021. In two years’ time, he is just 18 holes from becoming a PGA Tour champion.
Griffin leads 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship by three shots after a 6-under-66 at The Country Club of Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday. Carl Yuan, who shot a 5-under-par 67 on the third day of play to reach 17 under par, is in sole possession of second place.
Griffin, 27, made three birdies in his third round on both nines and also made some clutch saves. He was confidently walking putts with his flat stick as his lead continued growing.

Griffin signed his card saying, “I’m very proud of how I stuck to my game plan. I made a few mistakes on the back nine, but I was still able to escape. That has always been a strength of mine.”
“I’ve learned that on the PGA Tour, you have to be very disciplined. As much as I would like to be aggressive,” said Rae. It’s great when I miss-hit shots, because I get to do something creative. But it’s even better when you play stress-free. I feel like I managed that for 14, 15 holes today.
